The Internet of Things is defined as a network of common household objects such as refrigerators, coffee machines, or home security cameras that can receive wireless information and use this data to communicate with homeowners over the Internet or with other smart devices. The rise of Internet-ready items and wireless sensor networks have made smart homes a possibility.
Homeowners can now monitor their thermostat, manage flood-damage risks, and control light switches from their phones. Smart technology has also transformed home security by making security camera feeds accessible through mobile applications.
As these devices become more available and affordable, it's becoming increasingly common for newly constructed and renovated homes to be wired for home automation capabilities.
